Is it possible to teach exclusively weekend classes? Most of our clients book classes Monday–Friday between 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00 PM–4:00 PM. That said, we do have some evening and weekend classes. If you are interested in teaching on weekends, we still encourage you to apply.
Can you tell me which communities you currently work with? How much work is available within a 20-mile radius of where I live? We are unable to disclose specific communities until you complete onboarding and officially join the Kev’s Gym team. If we are recruiting in your area, there is a sufficient number of communities within a 20-mile radius.
Can I purchase general liability insurance after I’m onboarded with Kev’s Gym? General liability insurance must be purchased during the onboarding process. Please click here for a list of insurance providers who we recommend.
Can you explain the 12-month commitment? We ask instructors to remain available for prospective appointments for 12 months as a good-faith commitment.
- If you are not teaching any classes and decide to leave, you may do so at no cost.
- If you are actively teaching classes and terminate your contract before the 12 months expire, a $100 administrative fee will be deducted from your final invoice. This covers the administrative and scheduling work required to reassign appointments.
Do I need to accept appointments if they’re not a good fit for me? No. We will present you with opportunities and do our best to make them a good fit (including rescheduling or travel compensation when possible), but you are never required to accept an appointment.
How many certifications do I need? Instructors are required to have at least one certification in Yoga, Personal Training, Tai Chi, Zumba, Group Fitness, or a related fitness discipline.
Onboarding Questions
Will I have access to training documents after completing onboarding? Yes. You have access to training documents now! Please click here for all training documents.
How long will it take before I receive my first client? Typically 2–3 months, though it may be sooner depending on demand in your area.
Does the non-compete clause in the Independent Contractor Agreement prevent me from working at retirement communities in general? No. The non-compete only prevents you from working directly with clients that were assigned to you through Kev’s Gym.
I’d like my LLC name listed on the Independent Contractor Agreement. Is that possible? Yes. In the onboarding portal, enter your first and last name in the “First Name” field, and your LLC name in the “Last Name” field.
Why do I need to list Kev’s Gym, LLC as an additional insured on my general liability policy? We require Kev’s Gym, LLC to be listed as an additional insured to help protect the company from potential liability that could arise while you are teaching a class. While all of our clients sign liability waivers, this serves as an additional layer of protection in the event that an injury or related claim occurs.
Why do I only have 20 days to complete the onboarding process? The onboarding process typically takes 1–2 hours to complete. Allowing a 20-day window ensures the process moves forward efficiently and helps us confirm that candidates are prepared to meet the basic expectations of the role. Timely completion demonstrates reliability and attention to detail—qualities that are essential for arriving to classes on time, submitting invoices promptly, and communicating effectively with clients.
Will I be able to access my onboarding documents after I complete the onboarding process? Yes. You will continue to have access to your onboarding documents at any time by logging into your onboarding portal—both during and after the onboarding process. We’re also eager to get you up and running and teaching classes as soon as possible—so there’s no reason to delay!
